Pretreatment Batch Continuous

Oleochemicals processes involve the production of a wide range of substances deriving from modification (both physical and chemical) of natural oils and fats. It is imperative to remove impurities in the feedstock such as byproducts that lead to protein degeneration, soaps, ash and miscellaneous pigmentation material. The production of high-grade oleochemicals requires pretreatment by filtering the feedstock with a prescribed and sometimes variable amount of bleaching earth (activated) also called diatomaceous earth.

The variable amount may range from 0.1% to 2%. The resultant spent filter clay may contain up to 40% of fat material and this forms the bulk of the sludge or waste material that the pretreatment process arrests.
